A very successful Caribbean Regional Forum,"Standardization and the Challenge of Competing Globally",was organized by the Centre for International Services of the University of West Indies at Cave Hill Campus in Barbados in December 2002,in collaboration with the Barbados National Standards Institution,the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ),the Caribbean Export Development Agency and supported by ISO. International trade in services has far exceeded that of trade in goods,and attention is now being focussed on the formulation of International Standards for services.Such a formulation will have to take into account complex matters including culture and customs.Regional standards will therefore continue to contribute towards international solutions of such international problems.
