The ISO 9000 Year 2000 revisions have been subjected to what may be the most intense scrutiny ever of any of the 127000 International Standards developed by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) since it began operations in 1947.This interest is a measure of the international impact that the ISO 9000 standards have had since their publication in 1987. The latest edition of The ISO Survey reveals that at the end of 1999, the number of ISO 9000 certificates issued worldwide totalled 343643 in 150 countries. This was an increase over the previous year of 71796 -20,8 percent - the highest recorded since the survey was launched in 1993.
