Amag-rolling GmbH Ranshofen in Austria has placed an order with the heat treatment specialist Ebner Industrieofenbau for an electric-heated roller-hearth furnace ("Hycon") to solution heat treat aluminum plates. Although the furnace will be used mainly for solution heat treatment it does in fact have an operating temperature range between 200 deg C and 580 deg C. The interior of the furnace and the inlet to the quench are fitted with temperature-resistant brush rollers to guarantee the charge remains uoblemished during transport through the facility. The furnace can process plates and sheets up to 16.6 m long with a width of 3.2 m at a thickness between 2 mm and 80 mm.
