Ameren Illinois crews will be replacing vintage steel pipeline and natural gas services with modern, corrosion-resistant polyethylene material through the summer. Starting in March, crews went into action in Champaign, Ill., to replace 11 miles of natural gas pipeline and 900 individual customers' services. The $6.7 million project should be completed by December, weather pending.
