When an aircraft owner suffers an insurance claim, the challenges can begin mounting, especially if it's a total loss requiring the insurance company to document ownership prior to taking possession of the salvage. That can be difficult if FAA records show ownership other than what's indicated on the insurance policy.If there are old liens on the aircraft, they'll need to be cleared before payment of a total loss can be made to the poli-cyholder and before the insurance company can get clear title to the salvage.
