In the middle of 1998 Hydro Aluminium Raufoss Automotive, which belongs to the Hydro Aluminium concern, began operating a new SMS 60/65 MN extrusion press, the largest extrusion line in the concern so far. Raufoss is the market leader for bumper bars and a system supplier for Volvo, BMW and other automobile manufacturers. Since then, a start has been made on extending the product range with sections for space-frames and other automotive applications. The new extrusion line should enable this position to be taken still further.
