The energy mix of the future must meet three criteria: it must be secure, affordable and low carbon. Over the next 40 years, we will need to make some fundamental decisions, but I am concerned we are doing so without providing the public with the right information. With that in mind, there is a fourth element to consider: the lowest possible disruption to consumers, and this is particularly important in relation to heat and transport.
