In December 2016 the Mineral Products Association (MPA) published its fifth Annual Mineral Planning Survey (AMPS), covering the period to the end of 20l5.The survey found that, although sand and gravel reserves consented in 2015 exceeded annual sales for the first time since 2004, demand continues to outstrip the amount of new reserves being permitted, with the ten-year average for replenishment of land-won sand and gravel remaining low at 61.
