A massive quarrying push is underway after plans for a ?l.3bn tidal lagoon in Swansea Bay were backed last month in a government-commissioned review. The world's first tidal lagoon power plant won planning consent last June and was immediately hailed for its knock-on effect for the minerals sector by the Mineral Products Association (MPA).It will comprise 16 hydro turbines and six-mile breakwater wall. About five million tonnes of rock of varying grades will be used for the lagoon.
