France-based Alcatel has joined forces with China's FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies, to create a joint venture for the manufacture and sale in China of Alcatel's optical fibre product portfolio and FiberHome's optical cabling portfolio. Alcatel's president of optical fibre activities, Jacques Blanc, explained to Wire Industry: "The proposed joint venture is another step in Alcatel's strategy to strengthen its position in China's market and is a natural extension of the long-term working relationship that we have with FiberHome. "A key element of the agreement is also technology transfer, which confirms our commitment to be booming optical fibre market in China and can only help us achieve our goal of becoming one of the leading suppliers in this area."
