How new technology can protect your fleet. IS THERE ANY CONSUMER PRODUCT that has evolved so much as the automobile? Think about all the enhancements to performance, convenience, emissions and fuel consumption that have taken place in the past few decades. Arguably, the area where automobiles have improved the most is safety. Cast your mind back to the mid-1960s into the 1970s, a time when improving automotive safety was almost a radical concept. The first advances back then - things such as collapsible steering columns, padded dashboards, shoulder belts, radial tires and sprung bumpers - were important. The pace of progress really took off about 20 years ago with the development and refinement of antilock brakes and airbags.
