For the first time,researchers have measured airborne mycotoxins in moldy buildings,providing a possible link between "sick building syndrome"and human health."We believe that we are pioneers,the first to find these toxins in native,mold-contaminated buildings,"says Trevor Brasel,a graduate student in the lab of David Straus,professor of microbiology and immunology at Texas Tech University's Health Sciences Center."I think it opens up the door to new research."The study was presented this May at the American Society of Microbiology meeting in New Orleans.
