The Alcan group placed an order with Ebner for the installation of a state-of-the-art pusher-type furnace facility designed for homogenizing and reheating ingots for hot rolling. The objective was to expand the production capacity of the Alcan Taihan works (now known as Novelis Korea), but also respond to constantly increasing quality requirements made on beverage can strip. This is now the twelfth pusher-type furnace purchased by the Novelis Group. The facility was especially designed to allow for a second furnace to be installed next to the existing one during a further expansion phase. The second furnace will then be able to also use the existing handling equipment. The direct-fired gas pusher-type furnace has a net capacity of 660 tonnes with room for 30 ingots weighing 22 tonnes each.
