Through May, HR coil prices climbed as much as $80/ton as a result of supply disruptions at large Midwestern integrated steelmakers . Pricing appears to have moderated and is headed for a correction by the start of the third quarter, the troubles at the integrated producers affected the entire HR coil market, as EAF producers stepped in and supplied tonnage was lost by the idled integrated mills. This has resulted in an increase in lead times across the steel market. EAF mills are understood to be booked through June and deep into July. Lead times for plate supplies are now at 10-16 weeks, depending on location and mill.
