The so-called Reppe reactions (Figure 1) were realized in practice for the first time by W.Reppe and coworkers (BASF), using Ni(CO)_4 and later Co_2(CO)_s as catalyst and an iodide as catalyst under drastic reaction conditions: p = 150-600 bar, T = 180-220 ℃.
