In his article (Environ.Sci.Technol.2006,40,6873-6875),Paul D.Thacker writes about two principal issues:conflict of interest and tainting of the peer-review process by undisclosed,special-interest groups.Among other examples,he discusses a study of phosphine that was conducted by Science International for the Phosphine Coalition {Risk Anal.2004,24,1201-1213),of which I am a coauthor. However, this manuscript and the peer-review process that resulted in its publication are not examples of either a conflict of interest or the influence of undisclosed,special-interest groups on the peer-review process.
