Mercury levels in Everglades fish and birds have dropped by 80 over the last 10 years, according to a study by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).DEP attributes the decline to the U.S.EPA's aggressive controls on mercury emissions from garbage burners, medical waste incinerators, and sugar processors;because of the control, smissions have dropped more than 90 since the early 1990s.
