Visual presentation of pulsed laser characteristics such as voltage and power as a function of laser current is achieved in two steps: first, measurement and then storing the results; secondly, screening from the memory the characteristics on a TV monitor. Power measurement is performed inserting a thick scattering plate between the laser and the photodetector. Peak voltages corresponding to the laser voltage, current and power are measured by the sampling peak detectors and then converted by an analog-to-digital converter. The paper contains a brief description of the instrument and a short analysis of the power measuring unit.
