Mention China and the first thing that likely comes to mind is the country's booming economy. But China's increasing wealth is also propelling equally impressive developments in cancer research. In the next five years, China will spend 10 billion yuan (dollar1.6 billion) on a drug discovery "megaproject" for major diseases facing the country's population. Much of the money will focus on developing new cancer treatments including approximately 500 million yuan (dollar78 million) for liver cancer alone.
