In mid-2012, the United Nations announced a resolution that declared 2014 as the International Year of Crystallography. In the July, 2012 issue of Mineral News, we noted that mineral clubs, as well as stamp collectors and various dealers, were likely to prepare special commemorative envelopes (commonly called "covers" in the philatelic trade) to honor the occasion.
