摘要

The usually stable mining environment of Australia was rocked when Canberra announced plans for a 40-percent tax on what it calls "super" profits that are generated by all resource companies operating in Australia. The Financial Times reported that Canberra said the tax, which is slated to start in two years, would apply to all commodities and cover existing and new projects. Estimated proceeds of A$9 billion a year from 2013-2014 would be used to fund a cut in the company tax rate from 30 to 28 percent, higher pensions and infrastructure spending.
