Students, young professionals and individuals who have experience in the engineering field may have at some point considered working toward obtaining a professional engineering (PE) license. As part of our commitment to the professional development of young professionals in the mining industry, the Young Leaders Committee offers the following information and advice. There are many reasons why someone may want to become a professional engineer. It may be an individual goal and personal challenge to obtain a license or a desire to open up new opportunities for employment and promotion. Many companies and government organizations require an employee to be licensed to perform and certify engineering work and in order to obtain a certain level of responsibility.
