Many of you will be at the annual meeting when you first read this article. But whether you are at your desk or in the convention center, this is a good time to pause and reflect on the accomplishments of the SME Foundation (SMEF) since the last annual meeting. As I share my assessment with you, please note the SMEF Growth Wheel. The graphic illustrates the need of the foundation, with the support of the SME membership, to practice the 4 C's: communicate, collaborate, contribute and celebrate. The SME Foundation's sole purpose is to support the needs of the society and, hence, the membership. The officers and trustees of the foundation may have leadership responsibilities, but the operation and growth of the foundation needs to be a team effort. My definition of the four C's is as follows.
