In April the Peak District National Park was recommended to refuse a variation of conditions for extraction of vein minerals at White Rake, Wardlow. Other than slight widening and deepening of an existing trench along a mineral rake vein, no additional development was proposed beyond that currently consented. Key issues were uncertainty regarding reserves of fluorspar (claimed to be the principal vein mineral) at the site, a proposed amendment to the type and timing of a restoration scheme, and satisfactory storage and management of waste limestone or overburden.
