摘要

The Quarry Life Awards were launched by HeidelbergCement Group in 2011 to find new ideas for the conservation and promotion of biodiversity in quarries across the globe. HeidelbergCement Group is the world's biggest mineral extraction company with more than 400 quarries in more than 40 countries, so is well placed to be leading this type of activity. It was also the first company in the construction materials sector to adopt group-wide guidelines for species protection and includes biodiversity as a core part of its sustainability strategy (see panel, p17).
