Leicestershire County Council in May approved a proposed extension to Duckery Quarry to extract additional clay reserves and the construction of a new brickworks to improve production rates and efficiency at Measham Brickworks, south of Measham village. The proposed development, by Hanson Brick, would also include the construction of a new conveyor over Atherstone Road, landscaping and restoration to a large water feature. Approval was subject to a S106 legal agreement relating to improved public access, conservation development within Jubilee Pit, and location and after-use of exported soils. Hanson Brick was also asked to consider contributing towards the restoration of the Ashby Canal.
