摘要

The Aggregates Tax Sustainability Fund was launched in April for England by DEFRA and is intended to reduce damage to the environment from extracting aggregates. The fund is financed by the aggregates levy, which came into effect on 1 April 2002. It will run for two years initially, the fund is 35M pounds for the UK for each of the next two financial years. Funds will be allocated in England as follows; 29.3M pounds will be available each year:· For 2002-3, 6.5M pounds to reduce demand of primary aggregates, 6M pounds to promote more environmentally friendly extraction and transport, 16M pounds to reduce the effect of local aggregate extraction and 0.8M pounds for a pilot local scheme run through Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Somerset County Councils.
