In January Bedfordshire CC was recommended that Enforcement Action be taken at Arlesey Bridge Meadows where in October it had considered an application to vary a condition attached to the permission for the borrow pit to enable the stockpiled mineral to be removed and used for purposes other than for the Arlesey Bridge/A507 road contract. In November, topsoil was removed and not used on the bridge works. It was deemed expedient to issue a Stop Notice and an Enforcement Notice to ensure that further removal of material did not take place. The original proposal was reported in Mineral Planning 91 (p.49). In January enforcement action was recommended to require the refilling of a lake with the stockpiled material and the restoration of the land to agriculture. Any remaining mineral could then be permitted to leave the site for use for other purposes.
