摘要

Baosteel, China's largest producer, aims to become one of the world's three largest steelmakers at some point in the future by resorting to mergers and expansions. As a large corporation equipped with manufacturing, trading, logistics and transportation, financial services and construction capabilities, Baosteel is willing to explore various forms of cooperation with international firms. It produced 22.72 million tonnes of crude steel in 2005, and as per estimates released by the company, it may be posting annual profits of about 22 billion yuan (2.7 billion US dollars) based on revenues of about 167 billion yuan (20.7 billion US dollars).
