摘要

Research indicates that miscarriage is one of thecornnonest cormplications of pregnancy, occurring in up toone in five pregnancies. The authors base their findings on more than 11,500women who were taking part in the Heidelberg arm of EPIC,a large European study that is tracking the irmpact of dietand lifestyle on disease, par ticularly cancer. All the wormen had been pregnant at least once, and theauthors were particularly interested in those whosepregnancies had ended prernaturely, either as a result ofmiscarriage or abor tion, or whose babies had been stillborn.
