Slow recovery The CGES now expects global oil demand to fall to 84.3 mbpd in 2009, a drop of 1.5 mbpd (-1.8%) from the level of demand seen in 2008. Demand for oil will begin to recover in 2010, growing by 700,000 bpd (0.8%) to average 85 mbpd, as the global economy emerges from the economic turmoil of the past year and a half.
