摘要

Jean-Frédéric Oberlin, (1740-1826), who was a pastor at Ban de la Roche (Vosges, France), contributed to herbal medicine two hundred years ago. In the destitute, rustic country of Ban de la Roche, he meticulously observed and classified each plant and its therapeutic use. He organized education in this region and also developed a method for the determination of species. He experimented with cultivation, galenical preparation and the use of herbal remedies. He was a follower of the "Encyclopaedistes" and created free communal pharmacy of herbal medicine. © Springer 2005.
