The USNMRC met in July of 2000, during the NCSLI Conference. Minutes of that meeting are included below. A draft of the UNSMRC 2000 Report had been provided to Dick Pettit earlier and shared with members of the committee. The meeting had two areas of discussion. The first was on the report itself and the process for preparing it. The second was on ways to improve the survey process and thus get more input. While the report was considered to be a good one and to contain a lot of useful information, there was some concern over the fact that a large portion of the reported measurement requirements came from government agencies, especially the DoD, and only a small portion from private industry. It was explained, and understood, that the report could, and should, only reflect the results of the survey. The committee will, over the next several weeks, review comments from members of the committee and from the NCSLI Board of Directors and make necessary corrections to the report before it becomes final.
