abstract_textpOur study looked at disease adjustment and married life for 25 couples where the husband was being treated for prostate cancer. Couples were met at the start, in the middle and at the end of treatment and anxiety (STAI and MAS), depression (CESD), quality of life (FACT-P, CQOLC and SF12) and quality of married life (QRI) questionnaires were given to them at these points. The results showed that patients themselves had no significant emotional problems; whereas their partners were more anxious and depressed than the patients. Patients reported a good quality of life in spite of a reduction during treatment. Patients were satisfied with the availability and strength of support from their partners whereas their partners reported a reduction in support and increased conflict especially at the beginning of treatment./p/abstract_text
