In last month's analysis, we suggested that the seeds were sown for a round of company restructuring in the aluminium market. This month has already brought rumours of such initiatives in China and Russia, both with strong government involvement. Meanwhile, in the USA, Century has decided to raise capital through issuing additional shares. Cutbacks are still being announced, although more sparsely. Metal Bulletin Research believes that further cutbacks will be announced in 2009, as we do not expect a pick up in demand before the year end.
