A summary of the history of MedULA, Journal of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of The Andes, Venezuela. Reference is given to the changes done in order to improve the quality of the journal, its national and international visibility, its inclusion in different indexes and data bases of greatest importance national and international. It is noted the higher number of authors from other institutions outside University of The Andes. Figures of authors and articles with highest number of downloads up to January 2002 are given.
