Protective clothing is important. Many chemicals can be absorbed into the body through the skin, resulting in poisoning. The risk of this is greatest in hot weather when the user is sweating. As well, many chemicals can burn or irritate the skin. Match the level of protection to the hazard. The factors to consider are: Agrichemical type and formulation; The task being performed (whether mixing or applying); User comfort; Practicality; Frequency of use; Ease of decontamination. Always wear a long sleeved shirt and long trousers or overalls and a hat of some sort. For more toxic chemicals, you may also need water-proof gloves, waterproof outerwear (preferably made of heavy PVC) and gumboots.
