If Mike Mullen is right, the unconventional oil and gas plays discovered to date are just the tip of the iceberg. Mullen is a petrophysicist, not a geologist, but he should know something about so-called unconventional rock. (The term typically refers to low-permeability formations that are hard to produce, but Mullen has a more succinct definition: "Just another word for crappy rocks.")
