The title salt, C12H10BrN3O2+#183;2Br#8722;, was synthesized from the reaction of N1,N4-bis#173;(pyridin-2-yl#173;methyl#173;idene)benzene-1,4-di#173;amine and bromine in a methanol solution. All non-H atoms of the 2-aza#173;niumyl-3-bromo-6-oxo-5,6-di#173;hydro#173;pyrido1,2-aquinoxalin-11-ium cation are nearly coplanar, the maximum deviation being 0.114#8197;(4)#8197;#197;. In the crystal, the cations and anions are linked through N#8212;H#8943;Br hydrogen bonds and weak C#8212;H#8943;Br inter#173;actions, forming a three-dimensional supra#173;molecular architecture. A short Br#8943;Br contact 3.3088#8197;(9)#8197;#197; is observed in the crystal.
