Of all the industrial metals, the fundamentals of the zinc market are the strongest; however, this is not really reflected in the near-term priceoutlook. AME has downgraded its zinc price forecast for 2016 and 2017, as zinc has (arguably unfairly) been caught up in the malaiseafflicting the base metals complex. AME now forecasts zinc to average US$1,751/t or US$0.79/lb in 2016 (previously US$2,200/t orUS$1.00/lb). In 2017, we forecast zinc prices to lift to an average of US$2,200/t or US$1.00/lb (previously US$2,400/t or US$1.09/lb).
