摘要

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supplies remain chronically short, but initiatives to change that are growing. In the US, FAA is funding nearly $300 million in projects to develop SAF supply chains and technologies. The first round of awards under the Fueling Aviation's Sustainable Transition (FAST) grant program is expected in mid-2024. FAST-SAF will provide $244.5 million in grants to support the build out of infrastructure projects related to fuel production, transportation, blending and storage. The UK government selected six teams to advance to the next phase of a competition to develop the next generation of nuclear reactors-small modular reactors (SMRs)-to potentially generate the electricity needed to produce power-to-liquid SAFs. EDF Energy, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy International, Holtec Britain, NuScale Power, Rolls-Royce SMR and Westinghouse Electric UK have been chosen for the next stage of the SMR competition.
