摘要

As you may know, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the International Liquid Crystal Society (ILCS), and with it also that of the society's journal, Liquid Crystals Today. David Dunmur and Heinz Kitzerow, both former secretaries of the ILCS, have thankfully provided an account of the ILCS's history, which is included in this issue of LC Today. It indeed makes interesting reading, especially for the younger ones of us, who were not directly involved in the formation and early development of the ILCS, although I do recall, that as a student, I went to the first International Liquid Crystal Conference which was held under the auspice of the newly formed society, the 1992 meeting in Pisa.
