EU cattle output to decline: EU cattle production is expected to decline by 0.4% this year and by 1.2% next year, in the opinion of the French Ministry of Agriculture. A new production lows are expected to be reached in France, Germany and the Netherlands, but output is expected to rise in the UK and Italy. Deal on animal transport: A package of measures to improve the lot of animals in transit was was agreed by farm ministers last month, but the key questions of maximum journey times and stocking densities were postponed. The agreement included specified bans on transport of more than 100km for young animals, for satellite navigation control systems for vehicles, and mechanical ventilation, temperature control, watering facilities and water tanks in vehicles.
