The Green Train is an innovation that is set to create a template for Swedish train interiors for decades to come. Designer Daniel Eriksson explains the motivation behind the project. As design briefs go, it was simple in theory but a massive responsibility in practice: to create a train interior that would inspire Sweden's train industry into the future. The interior proposed will feature on new high-speed trains that are part of Grona Taget (Green Train) - a wider-reaching 15 million R&D project. The project encompasses many partners from Sweden and beyond, including the Swedish Rail Administration, Bombardier (supplier of Regina trains as the base railcar), Association of Swedish Train Operating Companies, The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, and is the largest of its type in Sweden.
