German specialist Franke Aquarotter boasts two decades of supplying components for rail vehicles' toilet compartments. Its range of products includes hydraulically controlled fittings and electronic infrared (IR) taps, which are used in trains with pressurised fresh-water systems. The manufacturer's fittings grace the toilet compartments of trains ranging from Bombardier's electric double-deck coaches for regional short-haul routes, to Intercity night railcars made by Spanish manufacturer Talgo.
