We suggest a new technique of jet nozzle optimization, in which we propose that the process of nozzle optimization should be started from its exit section rather than from the throat section as is accepted in conventional techniques for profiling the supersonic parts of jet nozzles. To obtain the optimal nozzle, we take not only a contour of the supersonic part but also the throat section of the nozzle; in the general case, we select also its overall dimensions. One of the main elements used in this new technique is the nozzle with maximal specific impulse.
