"It is important that we stay within the set MRUs (minimum residue levels) especially for our developing markets," Alistair said. "If any illegal residues are found on fruit to Japan then the whole New Zealand shipment needs to be residue tested which slows down our ability to sell the fruit and downgrades its quality. Exporters will be doing a lot more pre-harvest testing in the field this season."
