Falls accounted for 847 deaths and 253,440 1 injuries on the job in 2007 in the United States, according to the 2010 edition of the National Safety Council's "Injury Facts." Of those deaths, 746 were the result of a fall to a lower level and 81 were from a fall on the same level. Likewise, 77,300 injuries involved workers falling to a lower level and 166,560 were falls on the same level.
