In every possible sense we are inextricably bound to the world around us. Our DNA is handed to us before birth and we are surrounded by a world of influences that shape the way we think, observe and act. The more we observe the world around us the more we understand how impossibly complex it can be. It is natural that when we begin to create we often turn to imitating the world around us. This is true in art and literature. It is true in science and engineering as well. Many or our grandest ideas have been derived by what we see around us in the natural world. Certainly the world of design has benefitted form the lessons we see in nature.
