Ships will have to pay a heftier price to pass through the Suez Canal, reported Reuters. In an attempt to stave off a devaluation of its currency, Egypt will raise fees on ships sailing through the canal. The Suez Canal accounts for about $5 billion in revenue a year. The fees will increase by 2 percent for container ships and car carriers and 5 percent for tankers and petrochemicals.
